Member lists built up over years — from Excel, forms and join requests — sometimes end up with the same person listed twice. You can now merge those duplicates straight from the dashboard.

How do you find duplicates?

The community management screen has a new button that shows members who look like duplicates — the system groups them by phone number. You can also select two members in the list and choose "Merge".

What happens in a merge?

You choose which record stays, and which details to keep from each. Before anything changes you see a preview: how many donations, pledges, groups and assignments will move. Once you confirm, everything moves to the record that stays, and the duplicate goes to the trash. Every merge is written to the activity log.

When does the system stop you?

If both records have a linked community-app account, the merge is blocked — they may be two people who share a phone, such as a married couple. For now, merges are two records at a time.

Preventing duplicates

When a join request comes in from someone who's already on the list, you can now link it to the existing member instead of creating a new record — which is where most duplicates came from.
