The screen knows when Shabbat begins and switches to Shabbat mode by itself: nobody touches it, and donation prompts are hidden until Shabbat ends.

Prayer times, the parasha and announcements are stored on the screen, so it keeps running for about 24 hours if the connection drops. Donations, the app and new updates need the internet.
