Accessibility statement for the Beita website and products

Beita sees accessibility as a core value. We are working to make the website and our core products meet Level AA of the WCAG 2.1 standard, in line with Israel's Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Accessibility Adjustments for Service) Regulations, 5773-2013.

Our accessibility level

We are working toward compliance of this website (beita.co.il) and the admin dashboard (admin.beita.co.il) with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, in line with Israeli Standard 5568 and Regulation 35 of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Accessibility Adjustments for Service) Regulations, and we keep improving.

Accessibility toolbar

An accessibility button (a round, blue icon) appears in the bottom corner of every page on the site and on the donation portal. Clicking it opens a menu with:

• Text size: 100% / 115% / 130% / 150%.
• High contrast: a black background, yellow text and white links.
• Link emphasis: underlines every link on the site.
• Stop animations: turns off motion and animations across the page.
• Reset: returns to the default settings in one click.

Your settings are saved in your browser and carry over between pages. You can close the menu with the Esc key or by clicking outside it.

Other accessibility features

• A skip-to-content link at the top of every page, hidden until it receives focus with the Tab key.
• Full keyboard navigation: every action works without a mouse.
• Visible focus rings on buttons, links and forms.
• AA-level colour contrast (4.5:1 for regular text, 3:1 for large text) in the default design.
• ARIA labels on icons, forms and status messages.
• Support for prefers-reduced-motion: animations are turned off for people who asked for reduced motion in their operating system.
• Alt text on every meaningful image. Decorative illustrations are marked aria-hidden.
• Hebrew and English: correct text direction in both languages, including screen-reader support for Hebrew.

Limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts may not yet be fully accessible:

• The digital screens in the synagogue are designed to be read from a distance and don't work with screen readers. The information they show is also available in the community app.
• Content that synagogues upload themselves (event photos, publications) is their responsibility to make accessible. We recommend it, but we can't enforce it.
• PDF files uploaded in the past may not be accessible. Contact us and we'll provide an accessible version.
