How to set up prayer times
Prayer times are the heart of every synagogue, and Beita calculates them automatically based on your synagogue's exact geographic location. The system is built on well-established halachic calculations and supports different nusachim — Ashkenaz, Sephard, and Edot HaMizrach — so sunrise (Netz), sunset (Shkia), nightfall (Tzeit HaKochavim) and Plag HaMincha are always accurate.
Once the location is set, prayer times update automatically every day and appear on the digital screen, in the community app, and on the synagogue's website. There's nothing to update manually — the system does it all for you.
Set your synagogue's location
Open the Dashboard and go to Settings, then Prayer Times. Enter your synagogue's address, or click on the map to pin the exact location. The system automatically detects the latitude and longitude and calculates the times accordingly. If your synagogue is in a region with daylight saving time changes, the system adjusts itself automatically.
Fixed and halachic (variable) prayer times
You can set up two kinds of times: a Fixed time (for example, Shacharit every day at 6:30 AM) or a Halachic time (Zman) that shifts with the calendar (for example, Mincha 10 minutes before sunset). For each prayer, you choose between a fixed hour or a time calculated automatically from a halachic zman. Most synagogues use a mix — Shacharit at a fixed hour, with Mincha and Maariv tied to sunset.
Shabbat and holiday times
The system automatically calculates Candle lighting time (18 or 20 minutes before sunset, depending on your community's custom) and the time Shabbat ends. On holidays, the system recognizes the chag and shows the matching times, including special cases like Erev Pesach (Seder night) and Erev Yom Kippur. You can change the default minutes-before-sunset in Settings.
Manual adjustments
Sometimes the gabbai wants to change a specific time — for example, moving Mincha earlier for a special occasion, or pushing Shacharit later during a break between semesters (bein hazmanim). You can make a one-off manual change from the Today's times tab in the Dashboard, and the screen updates immediately. The manual change applies only to the date you picked — the next day, the system goes back to the regular times.
